Funeral services for Oralee Jones will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 12, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church in Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Peggy Brown officiating, interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home. Mrs. Jones, age 81, of Gillette, Wyoming passed Saturday, October 07, 2006 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital after a short illness.Oralee was born May 28, 1925 in Spearville, Kansas the daughter of Ora and Jennie (Braddock) Moore. She was raised and educated in Spearville graduating in 1943. Upon graduation Oralee attended college at Kansas State earning her degree in home economics, later earning her teaching certificate. After college she moved to Jetmore, Kansas where she met and married Walter Jones on January 13, 1949. Oralee worked as an elementary school teacher while living in Texas, Kansas, and Colorado, eventually making their home in Gillette, Wyoming in 1973. However, she spent the majority of her career in Gillette, teaching at Lakeview Elementary, retiring from the Campbell County School District in 1992. After retirement she enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and spent much time caring for her family. Her family was her primary focus; she enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren, sending each one of them a weekly letter filled with love. She also enjoyed a recent trip to West Point in New York to see one of her grandsons graduate. Oralee loved the Lord and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, volunteering many hours as a member of the Presbyterian Woman's Organization. Oralee will be remembered as the family caregiver, a source of inspiration to her grandchildren through her thoughtful letters, and as the one who stitched together a family spread across the country. Oralee will be greatly missed by her husband of 58 years of Gillette; 5 children: Bill Jones and wife Donna of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Tom Jones of Casper, Wyoming, Jennie DeLong and husband George of Gillette, John Jones and wife Kimberly of Wichita, Kansas and Joe Jones and wife Charlene also of Gillette. Oralee was the oldest of 7 children: Bill Moore, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma,Tom Moore of Edmond, Oklahoma, Dick Moore of Barneville,Oklahoma , Jeanette Taylor of Kansas City, Missouri, Jane Scoville of Manhattan, Kansas and Jim Moore Artesia, New Mexico; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents.
