Funeral services for Clifford Johnson of Gillette, Wyoming will be at 10:00 am, Friday, September 22, 2006 at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Marty Crump officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with military rites provided by the American Legion Post #42. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:30 pm, Thursday, September 21, 2006 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home.Clifford, age 61, died on Monday, September 18, 2006 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital from an aneurysm.Clifford Johnson, Jr. was born on a farm west of Platte, South Dakota on August 22, 1945 to Clifford and Mildred (Smit) Johnson. He attended rural elementary school and graduated from Platte High School in 1963. Following graduation he enlisted in the Army National Guard. Cliff worked as an iron worker in Chicago, Illinois and worked construction on Interstate 90 around the Chamberlain, South Dakota area. On December 29, 1965 he married Pat Brennan from Kimball, South Dakota. The couple resided in Lead, South Dakota where he worked for the Homestake Gold Mine, they later returned to the Kimball, Platte, South Dakota area where Cliff worked on area farms. In 1968 Cliff moved his family to Wyoming where he worked in the oil field first as a roughneck and later as a driller. After working in the oilfield he went to work for Amax Coal Company where he remained until the time of his death. Cliff enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid Bronco fan. He had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed flying, motorcycling and just finished a lifelong dream of canoeing the entire Missouri River. Cliff enjoyed time spent with family and friends especially watching things his grandchildren were involved in. He always said one of the things he was the proudest of was the kind of men his sons turned out to be. Cliff was a member of the Family Life Church and was a friend of Bill W. for over 25 years.He is survived by his wife, Pat; 2 sons: Buck Johnson, Mike and his wife Alana Johnson; 3 grandchildren: Stephanie, Patrick and Sara all of Gillette, Wyoming; 2 sisters, Elaine and husband Kenny Reis of Corsica, South Dakota and Loretta Brill of Leander, Texas.He was preceded in death by his parents, step father, Paul and brother, Ed.Memorials may be made to the Family Life Church building Fund.
