Funeral services for long time Rozet resident Alma Ruth Burke will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 9, 2006 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Moorcroft, Wyoming with the Reverend Guille Seigler officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Rozet. Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 pm on Friday, September 8, 2006 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home.Mrs. Burke, age 88, went home to rest with her Lord and Savior, on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at her home surrounded by her family and close friends, George and Joyce Coursey.She was born on May 16, 1918 the daughter of Leslie and Clara (Hand) Emerson in Sidney, Nebraska. She attended school in Sidney. On November 29, 1936 she married Ernest George Burke. They lived in several places, Sidney, Nebraska, Hillsboro, Oregon, Sterling, Colorado & Newcastle, Wyoming before settling in Rozet, Wyoming in 1961. She worked out of her home occasionally, but her greatest joy was raising her 10 children. Alma?s hobbies were growing a huge garden, flowers and her houseplants.She is survived by her 8 children: Audrey (Robert) Spaeth of Lodgepole, Nebraska; Leslie Burke of Cerritos, California; Richard Burke of Bayard, Nebraska; Clara Faye (Dennis) Rogers of Gillette, Wyoming; Ruth (Alva) Way of Lodgepole, Nebraska; Jane (Roger) Johnson of Rozet, Wyoming; Alice (Joe) Bolin of Belgrade, Montana; 2 daughters in law: Twila Burke of Rapid City, South Dakota and Netty Slaton of Wellington, Colorado; 31 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 sons, David & Robert Burke, daughter in law, Beverly Burke, 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.An Alma Ruth Burke memorial fund has been established and donations can be sent in care of Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home 210 W. 5th Street, Gillette, Wyoming 82716 or via the internet at www.stevensonwilson.com.
