Memorial services for Dorothy Peckham will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at St. Luke?s Episcopal Church in Billings, Montana, with Father Gary Waddingham officiating. Inurnment will follow in the St. Luke?s Columbarium.Dorothy Smart Peckham, 94, of Gillette, Wyoming, formerly of Billings, Montana died Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home of natural causes. She was born January 5, 1912, in Georgetown, Kentucky, to Henry Thomas and Ella Nora (Dorsey) Smart. Dorothy moved with her family to Laurel, Montana as her father was a pioneer in oil refinery construction.Dorothy graduated from high school in Wichita Falls, Texas and attended one year college there. She also attended the University of Montana and Billings Normal School (MSU-B) in Billings, Montana. She taught school prior to her marriage to John ?Jack? Walk Peckham, grandson of Billings pioneer, John J. Walk, on December 29, 1934. Mrs. Dorothy Peckham was the Midland Empire Girl Scout Council office manager and bookkeeper for 27 years, as well as a troop leader and camp counselor. She was recognized several years ago by the Billings Gazette for her untiring efforts to collect fat during World War II. Dorothy was an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Billings, where she sang in the choir for 25 years. She was a charter member of the Billings Jr. Woman?s Club and member of the Billings Woman?s Club. Dorothy enjoyed modeling for Hart-Albin and Cole?s Department stores. She spent many years as a member of the Navy Wive?s Club and was active with her husband in the pilot?s association. Mrs. Peckham is survived by her daughters, Alice Bratton of Gillette, Wyoming and Ann Kuehn (Glen) of Great Falls, Montana; six grandchildren: Richard J. Bratton (Lisa) Casper, Wyoming, Randall Bratton (Nicky) Gillette, Wyoming, Beth Tocci (Larry) Billings, Montana, Roger Kuehn (Cindy) Great Falls, Montana, Stephanie Ross (Pierre) Jefferson, Wisconsin, and Scott Kuehn, American Falls, Idaho; twelve great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by parents, her husband, sisters Edith Jugenheimer, Alice Vickery, Eleanor Thomson brother, Harry Smart, son-in-law Dick Bratton and great granddaughter Samantha Jae Kuehn.Memorials and condolences may be sent in her name to benefit St. Luke?s Episcopal Church in Billings, Montana or Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home, 210 W.
