Funeral services for LaVern Harrod will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Joel Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette, Wyoming. A visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m., Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home.LaVern Harrod, age 86, of Gillette, Wyoming died Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home of natural causes.LaVern Thomas Harrod was born May 13, 1920 in Gillette, Wyoming the son of Joe and Alice (Varah) Harrod. He attended rural schools in Campbell County graduating from Campbell County High School in 1939. On July 16, 1941 he married Lillian Ritter in Gillette, Wyoming. LaVern worked a short time for Rule Ranch near Recluse. He then went to work for the Sheridan Flour Mill for 3 or 4 years. LaVern was Justice of the Peace in Campbell County for 16 years and he also worked as a custodian for the school district, retiring in 1985. LaVern sang for many weddings and funerals. He enjoyed reading with old westerns being his favorites. LaVern also enjoyed gardening with his wife. He was a member of Odd Fellows being a Noble Grand. LaVern is survived by 1 son, Lee (Lois) Harrod of Hopewell, New Jersey, 1 daughter, Linda (Steve) Neiffer of Gillette, Wyoming, 3 granchildren: Johnathan Harrod, Katheryn Harrod-Kim and Mark Neiffer; and 2 great-grandchildren: William Harrod and James Harrod.
