Larry Pope

Funeral services for Larry Pope of Gillette will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2006 from 3-7 at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. A second service will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 13, 2006 at the Wiederspahn-Rodamski Chapel of the Chimes in Cheyenne.Mr. Pope, age 60, died Sunday, April 9, 2006 at his home in Gillette of leukemia.Larry Lee Pope was born September 23, 1945 in Cheyenne, Wyoming the son of Alvin and Helen (Bridwell) Pope. He was raised and educated in Cheyenne. Larry married Susan Goepfert in 1964, together they had 5 children. The couple later divorced. Larry married Julia Van Patten on April 15, 1982 in Gillette, where they have lived since. Mr. Pope has been an IBEW Local 415 Electrician since 1965. Working as and electrician his entire life, the last ten plus of which has been with the Campbell County School District. Larry loved the outdoors: boating, fishing, camping and the Bighorns. He even more enjoyed doing these things with his family, especially his grandkids, who will remember his huge ?Bear Hugs? the most.Larry is survived by his mother of Cheyenne; his wife Julia of twenty-four years; 3 daughters: Shelly Diehl of Gillette, Lisa Gustafson of Windsor, Colorado and Candace Buday of Lewistown, Montana; 5 sons: Matthew Pope of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Kevin Pope of Billings, Montana, Tim Pope of Bucharest, Romania, Charlie Van Patten of Gillette and Travis Van Patten of Laramie; 1 brother Duane Pope of Cheyenne.
