Memorial services for Rod Bergquist of Gillette, Wyoming will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 9, 2006 at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Reverend Ginny Bettendorf of the First United Methodist Church and Pastor Doug Rumsey of Antelope Valley Baptist Church officiating. Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home of Gillette has been entrusted with the arrangements.Mr. Bergquist, age 47, died March 4, 2006 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Rod Lawrence Bergquist II, was born August 30, 1958 in Huntington, West Virginia and is the oldest son of Rod and Cornelia (Adams) Bergquist. He was raised and educated in Southern, Ohio. During high school he was involved in the civil air patrol, and graduated with honors in 1976 from South Point High School in South Point, Ohio. His educational career continued as his studies led him to the future job as a paramedic for which he loved. Rod met his future wife Ree Ann Hodges at the hospital that they both work for in Ironton, Ohio. He married Ree Ann on July 14, 1981 in the Rose Garden at Ritter Park in Huntington, WV. Rod and Ree Ann began there new life together by moving to and making there home here in Gillette. Rod and Ree Ann were extremely proud master graduates of Rapport Leadership International. In January 1996 Rod lost his beloved wife thus beginning a new chapter in his life and focusing on his number one priority, raising his 2 beautiful children. Over the past 10 years Rod was active in so many aspects of this community including; serving with the Campco Federal Credit Union Board of Directors, playing the villain in numerous Gillette Community Theatre productions, as well as Relay for Life. Rod was also the entrusted to oversee the mural project located on the L & H Welding Building, and was also involved in the Kiwanis Club of Gillette. Rod also enjoyed the life of owning his own business starting with his partnership with Tony and Michelle Geffre at Interquest Communications, Inc. His second was his partnership with his brother Erik and their Mobile DJ Business appropriately named Masters of Ceremony for which he loved. Rod loved all music, which complimented his work as a DJ. Rod enjoyed cooking, especially for the Thanksgiving Holiday when he prepared meals for all of his family and friends. Rod was also a "gadget guy" and loved working with computers and doing web designing. Rod was a dad, husband, brother and best friend, material things meant nothing, and people meant everything. Every relationship he made was a precious one. Rod is survived by his son, Rod Bergquist III; daughter, Ginny Bergquist; sister, Julia Bergquist, brother, Erik Bergquist all of Gillette; as well as his father, Rod Bergquist of Los Angeles, California, and numerous friends around the Gillette and surrounding communities for whom he treasured. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother, and his wife. Rod will be missed but never forgotten, long live the memories of a man who touched the heart of everyone he came into contact with, whether as Snoopy the Dog in a community theatre performance, or emceeing a banquet. No matter how you knew Rod, he definitely made an impression on everyone he ever encountered.
