Louis C. Reed Jr., age 82, passed away February 5, 2006, of natural causes at Pioneer Manor in Gillette, Wyoming. Services will be held Saturday February 11, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home, Gillette, Wyoming with Kenna Lou Rose officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, February 10, 2006 from 3-7 p.m. at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home. Louis C. Reed Jr. was born March 21, 1923 the son of Louis and Harriet (Felton) Reed in Guthrie, Okalahoma, where his mother traveled to give birth. Jr. was raised on the Reed homestead and educated in Campbell County. Upon his High School graduation Jr. began college at the University of Wyoming. After completing his college courses Jr. returned to Gillette to ranch with his parents. Louis married Ethel Sams on April 6, 1946. The couple leased farming ground from Bill Scott where they lived while raising their children Robert and Ralph. The couple later divorced. Jr. then went to work on the I-90 interstate between Buffalo and Gillette. He also worked for Farmers Coop and operated the Gulf service station. On November 11, 1968 he married Pat Worley. Together with Pat?s 4 sons they moved to the Reed homestead and Jr. began working for McCullough Gas Plant. After retiring, he continued operating the family ranch. The couple later divorced. Due to failing health, Jr. resided at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home the past 3 years. Jr. was active in 4-H while growing up. He enjoyed hunting, raising and showing goats. He was also a 4-H leader for the Wildcat 4-H club.Survivors include 2 sons; Robert Reed of Sheridan, Wyoming, Ralph Reed of Rowlett, Texas, 4 stepsons; Frank, Nyle, and Byron Nelson of Gillette, Wyoming and John Nelson of Riverton, Wyoming, 1 granddaughter, and twelve step grandchildren. Jr. was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials are suggested to the Recluse Community Center.
