A Mass of Christian Burial for Patty G. (Lueck) Downey, 48, of Green River formerly of Gillette will be celebrated at 10: AM, Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at the St Matthew?s Catholic Church, Gillette. Interment will follow in the Mt Pisgah Cemetery, Gillette. Friends may call from 4-7PM on Tuesday, January 17 at Stevenson Wilson Funeral Home, Gillette, Wyoming.Mrs. Downey passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at her home following a five year battle with breast cancer. She was born on October 29, 1957 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Myron F. and Donna L. (Wolter) Lueck.Mrs. Downey attended schools in Gillette, Wyoming and was a graduate of the Campbell County High School with the class of 1976. In high school, she was selected 4A All Conference and was also selected as Campbell County?s All Around Athlete of the Year in 1976, All State Volleyball, Basketball and Track. She married Nick Downey in Gillette, Wyoming on December 1, 1980.Mrs. Downey was employed as a Work Study Coordinator with Sweetwater County School District #22 for ten years and retired on June 1, 2005. She was also employed at Campbell County High School and Wyoming BOCES. Mrs. Downey was selected as Support Staff Member of the Year for Green River High School on 2004. She coached volleyball and track and served as a Swim Team Official for WHSAA. She was also a Partylite Consultant for many years.She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Special Olympics and Relay for Life. Mrs. Downey also served on the Youth Sports Board of Directors, including Gillette Little League and U.S.S. Swimming in Green River, WyomingHer interests included spending time with her grandchildren and family. She also enjoyed gardening, beading and doing crafts. Survivors include her husband Nick Downey of Green River; her mother Donna Lueck of Gillette; two sons Chris Downey and wife Janice of Fallon, NV and Conrad Downey of Green River; two daughters Catey Martinez and husband Travis of Ogden, UT and Cora Downey of Spearfish SD; one brother Lonnie Lueck of Gillette; two sisters RaNaye Haney and Lori Lueck; maternal grandmother Cora Wolter of Arlington MN; seven grandchildren Kayden, Mason, Analise and Trista Downey, Alex, J.C. and Alijah Martinez; several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her father Myron; paternal grandparents, Harold and Ethel Pollmann and Fred Lueck; and maternal grandfather Ivan Wolter; and one nephew Joshua Lueck Fehlberg. In addition to services in Gillette, a Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Monday, January 16, 2006 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 900 Hitching Post Drive, Green River, Wyoming.
