Funeral services for Malcolm J. VanKirk of Gillette, Wyoming will be held in Damascus, Virginia on Saturday, January 14, 2006 with Pastor Will Robinson officiating. He will be laid to rest in Laurel Valley Cemetery in Konnarock, Virginia. Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home in Gillette, Wyoming and Garrett Funeral Home in Damascus, Virginia have been entrusted with arrangements.Malcolm J. VanKirk, age 84, formerly of Konnarock, Virginia and Beltsville, Maryland passed away at his home in Gillette, Wyoming on January 9, 2006 of natural causes.Malcolm was born on August 24, 1921 in Washington, DC, the son of Lloyd H. and Jessie Mae (Shultz).VanKirk He lived in the Washington, DC and southwestern Virginia area until moving to Gillette, Wyoming in 2004.Malcolm is survived by two sons: Stephen K. and Malcolm R. Sr. both of Mt. Airy, Maryland, daughter; Carol Mallory of Gillette, Wyoming, six grandchildren, two great granddaughters and soon to be blessed with a great grandson.He was preceded in death by his wife, Milllie of 61 years, son, James K., his parents, one sister and two brothers.Memorials are suggested to benefit the Hospice of Campbell County Memorial Hospital.
