Funeral services for Dwayne Olson will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Chad Brucklacher officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9, 2006 from 3-7 p.m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Gillette, Wyoming. A second service will be held in Pleasant Valley, S.D. on Thursday, January 12, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at the Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church with Pastors Terrill and Sara Sorensen officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 11, 2006 from 3-7 p.m. at Price Funeral Home in Britton, S.D. Interment will follow with full Military Honors in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Britton, SD. Dwayne Olson, age 80, died Thursday, January 5, 2006 at his home of natural causes.Dwayne I. Olson was born May 22, 1925 the son of Peter and Lucy (Lea) Olson in Kidder, SD where he was also raised and educated. Upon his schooling Dwayne farmed with his family until entering the Armed Forces in 1944. During his time in the Army Dwayne was stationed in occupied Germany and he was honorably discharged in 1946. He returned home and married Abigail Moeckly on November 18, 1948. Later Dwayne and his father-in-law started their own construction business. In 1977 Dwayne came to Gillette and began work at Jacob?s Ranch Mine, working there until his retirement in 1989. After his retirement Dwayne and Abigail loved traveling through the states and wintering in Arizona. He was a sixty year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Dwayne enjoyed dancing with his wife, watching stock car races, watching the news (to keep up with current events), but mostly he loved to visit with family and friends.Dwayne will be missed by his 3 sons: Larry (Sandi) Olson of Gillette, WY, Gary (Donna) Olson of Wagner, SD and Craig (Lisa) Olson of Gillette, WY, 1 daughter, Janet (Darrell) Velline of Conifer, CO and his twin brother Darwin Olson of Kidder, SD. He will also be missed by his 9 grandchildren: Shawn (Bill) Knickerbocker, Melissa (Steve) Zacharias, Ryan Olson, Laura Olson, Cherilee (Mark) Clinesmith, Chris Olson, Jeff Olson, Zachary Velline, Alex Velline and 8 great-grandchildren: Breanna and Jamie Knickerbocker, Cami, Tyler, Halie, Amy, Amanda and Kayla Clinesmith.Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Abigail.Memorials and condolences may be sent in Dwayne?s name in care of Stevenson Funeral Home, 210 W. 5th St., Gillette, Wyoming 82716 or via the internet at www.stevensonandsons.com
