Mass of Christian Burial for Alice Holzer will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 28, 2017 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church with Father Cliff officiating; interment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Gillette Memorial Chapel with a Vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m. Alice Holzer passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 23rd at her home in Gillette, Wyoming. Alice was born in Solen, North Dakota on April 8, 1937 to Victor and Mary (Burns) LaDuke. She was raised in a family of eleven children with six brothers and four sisters. She grew up on the farm in Solen and graduated from Flasher High School. After high school, Alice obtained her degree from Bismarck State College. She married Raymond R. Holzer on November 26, 1957 in Shields, North Dakota. In 1969 the family moved to Gillette. She worked in administrative positions in the tire industry for several years, but found her true calling as a Paraprofessional at BOCES working with handicapped children. Alice enjoyed traveling with Ray to visit all of their relatives in North Dakota and South Dakota, and camping trips to Shadehill, Keyhole and Spearfish with all of their children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed visiting with family and friends around the kitchen table and attending her grandchildren’s various activities. She had a great sense of humor and loved her family very much. She was an amazing cook, Ray and Alice hosted many memorable holiday meals for their family and friends. Alice will be greatly missed by her four children; Renee (Keith) Coyle, Kelly Holzer, Michael (Joan) Holzer, Kim (Tom) Klein; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Josh) Meranda, Cody Coyle, Justin and Megan Klein, Haylee (Sawyer) Newell and Samantha Holzer, sisters Arlene (Tom) Roberts of Gillette, Wyoming and DeLoris Seiler of Bismarck, North Dakota, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her husband; Ray, her parents; Victor and Mary, brothers; Joe, Al, Ray, Earl, Glen, and Bob, as well as her sister Francis and an infant sister.
