Bambi Pownall

March 31, 1947 — March 12, 2024

Marsha (Bambi) Kay Pownall 76 of Gillette, Wyoming passed away on Tuesday March 12, 2024, peacefully in Rapid City, SD.

Bambi was born in Gillette, WY March 31, 1947, to Paul and Alene (Billie) Norfolk. She was raised in Gillette and attended Campbell County High School graduating in 1965. Bambi married Bryan Jackson Pownall Sr November 4,1967 in Jackson, WY. Together they raised three sons Bryan (Jack)Jr, Paul, and Brett on the Pownall Ranch North of Gillette. They followed the boys from there early years at Little Powder throughout their school years supporting them through their many activities. Whether the boys were doing rodeo, sports or ranch work she was there cheering them on.

Though Bryan and Bambi later divorced; Bambi remained on the ranch becoming a self-employed rancher for the next 30 years. During which she met all the duties that ranching entailed head on. She certainly wasn't afraid of the challenge. Bambi never met a stranger; she would visit with anyone who would stop by the ranch, or during her trips to Gillette.

Bambi loved her family, sewing, scuba diving, riding cutting horses, ranch life, spending time with her dear friends, and cows! She was a die hard Denver Bronco's fan. Bambi continued to support her boys and their families in all things. She supported her grandchildren in all their activities the same as she did with her boys.

Bambi continued to teach all of them ranch life and gave solid advice when needed. Bambi would sew in her quiet times making beautiful blankets and quilts for family and friends. She was a member of the Red Hat Association.

Bambi is survived by her children Jack (Kari) Pownall, Paul Pownall, and Brett Pownall all of Gillette, WY. Grandchildren; Stephanie (Rory) Record, Taylor (Becca) Pownall, Tyler (Trisha)Pownall, Jacquelyn Pownall, August Pownall, Solomon Pownall, Raianna Pownall, Lela Pownall, and Alexys Pownall. Four great-grandchildren; Kaitlyn and Kamaryn Record, Hudson Pownall and Bryndal Pownall

She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Billie Norfolk, her two brothers Dean Norfolk and Joe Norfolk, and her sister Paulette Parks.

Bambi's Celebration of life will be on March 29, 2024 2:00 PM at the Gillette Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers please visit the gillettecollegefoundation.org to make a donation in her memory.
