Beverley Sanders age 77, AKA Mrs. Simonson to many of her art students passed away at her home with her husband by her side on Friday, July 5, 2024.
Bev was born on August 4, 1946 in Bismarck, North Dakota to Kenneth T. and Dorothy Lorraine (McCagherty) Stamus. Growing up she lived in Bismarck, Minot and Grand Forks before moving to Fergus Falls, Minnesota where she graduated from high school. After graduation she attended Mayville State Teacher’s College in North Dakota. She graduated with a degree in Art and German. During her time at college, she met her future husband, Dale Simonson. Together they had two sons, Timothy and Michael. Bev and Dale moved to Gillette in 1970 where they both taught school. They later divorced. In 1988 Bev married Mel Sanders -the love of her life. Mel and Bev enjoyed their time together. They took a lot of road trips and traveled with grandchildren. A couple of cruises and trips to Disneyland and Disney World. Bev had to retire after 26 years of teaching due to illness. So, while Mel continued to teach, she spent her time doing art, crafts and taking care of grandchildren. Bev especially loved spending time with the grandchildren as well as the various dogs she had over the years. Bev was a bright funny person who was willing to help others. She also loved to read and try new recipes. Bev will be missed by those who have known her.
