Funeral services for Helen A. Clabaugh will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Walker Funeral. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Bonnie Alice Clabaugh died December 24, 2017 at the Powder River Manor in Broadus, Montana. She was born on October 4, 1922 to Denton and Oran (Rose) Floyd in Arvada, Wyoming. Her early days were spent west of Gillette on Fortification Creek. When she reached school age, her parents purchased property near Echeta, Wyoming. She completed grade school at Echeta and completed her high school by correspondence. Bonnie attended Campbell County High School as a senior then went on to do her Normal training to become a teacher. Helen graduated as Valedictorian in 1940 and returned to Echeta to teach the following four years. On May 15, 1944 she married Leslie Clabaugh of Arvada, Wyoming at her parent’s home in Echeta. The following two years they lived in Salinas, California where he was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. When Leslie was sent overseas to Iwo Jima, she returned to Gillette to wait for the arrival of their first child. When World War Two ended Leslie received his discharge papers from the military a week before their son Glenn was born. Two years later Helen joined the family. They purchased ranch property south of Gillette and made that their home until 1972 when they bought the Norfolk Ranch north of Gillette. Leslie passed away at the ranch March 8, 1979. Bonnie enjoyed traveling and went to Canada, Alaska, the Bahamas, Germany and Israel. Her children and grandchildren were her life. She loved entertaining family and friends. Everyone raved about the pies Bonnie enjoyed baking. She was a member of Grace Bible Church and Chapter V, PEO. She resided at the Primrose Retirement Community in Gillette for seven years. Since September 30th of 2017 she resided at Powder River Manor in Broadus, Montana. All who knew Bonnie will always remember her radiant smile, her kindness, her generosity and the thank-you that she gave to everyone who might have done something for her no matter how insignificant it may have been. Helen will be missed everyday by those who loved her. Bonnie is survived by her son, Glenn Clabaugh (Sylvia) of Gillette; daughter, Helen Bowe of McKinney, Texas; grandsons, Kyle Clabaugh and Spencer Jay, granddaughter, Keely Clabaugh, great-grandson, Caden Jay and numerous nieces and nephews. Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband, parents and three sisters, Cora Rose Floyd, Jean Knapp and Amie Hayden. A memorial in Bonnie’s name is established to the Missionary Fund in care of Grace Bible Church in Gillette, WY.
