Carol Jeanette Kiewel

August 20, 1946 — January 22, 2018

Memorial service for Carol “Jeanette” Kiewel will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Living Rock Evangelical Free Church 1001 S. Douglas Hwy. Building B Suite 1, Gillette, WY 82716; interment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour prior to services at the church. Carol “Jeanette” Kiewel passed away on January 22, 2018 and, as a born again Christian, went instantly to be with her Heavenly Father.  She died peacefully at home surrounded by her family after many struggles with cancer.  She was 71 years old, born in San Antonio, TX to Talmer and Lettie Leona Proctor.  She lived in Amarillo, TX until she was 18, then moving to Denver, CO with her family for her father’s employment.  While there, she met Clayton Kiewel, a South Dakota man, and fell in love. They were married in 1969 and moved from Denver, CO to Greeley, CO where she took classes at Aimes Jr. College and her husband earned a degree at the University of Northern Colorado.  With two children, she and Clayton moved to Gering, NE, where Clayton got employment and had their third child.  Four years later, they moved once again to Alliance, NE for new employment opportunities where they spent 10 years.  Jeanette and her family then moved to Gillette, WY where she continued her work as a school cafeteria cook, retiring after 17 years. Jeanette loved life and was very active all her years.  In the late 1970’s, she and her husband began playing in co-ed community volleyball.  Then, her 3 boys started playing, who all advanced within 2 years to play competitive volleyball (above the “old folks”).  This volleyball quest continued for 30 years.  Thru-out her married life, Jeanette and Clayton were very, very involved in ministry in Evangelical churches.  Jeanette was especially involved in ladies Bible studies and various other services for the Lord. The greatest joys Jeanette had were many.  She enjoyed her Godly marriage with Clayton for 48 years.  She loved her 3 boys and their wives, along with her 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.  Her sister was a wonderful presence in her life from early childhood until her death.  Day after day she loved and admired her sister, Phyllis. With an unwavering faith and love for the Lord, giving of herself to all, her love and care was known and enjoyed by everyone who knew her.  She will be dearly missed, but we know she is enjoying the rewards of a good and faithful servant.  We look forward to our reunion some day in glory and we thank God for all the time He has given us with Jeanette. Jeanette Kiewel was preceded in death by her mother, Lettie Leona Proctor; her father, Talmer Proctor.  She is survived by her husband, Clayton Kiewel; her 3 sons, Bryan (wife Wendy), James (wife Whendi), and Shelby (wife Andrea); her sister Phyllis Wilburn (husband Dave); and her 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Memorials and condolences may be sent in care of Walker Funeral Home 410 Medical Arts Court, Gillette, WY 82716. Condolences may also be expressed at www.walkerfuneralgillette.com
