Join us as we bid farewell to a remarkable woman whose presence illuminated the lives of all who knew her. Cathy Lynn Abbenhaus, a cherished daughter, devoted spouse, loving mother, and doting grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and boundless kindness.
Born on March 6th, 1956 in Kenmare, ND, Cathy brought joy into the lives of her parents, Loraine and Berneil Anderson. She grew up in the serene landscapes of Glendive, MT, where she graduated high school and began a life journey that touched many people through the years.
On June 25, 1988, Cathy joined hands with her partner in life and shenanigans, Ralf Abbenhaus, in a union blessed with love and laughter. Family was paramount to Cathy, and she reveled in the joy of having loved ones gathered around her. Whether it was camping in the Bighorns or Black Hills, fishing, or sharing stories by the fireside, Cathy's heart overflowed with love for her family.
A pillar of strength and compassion in the Gillette community, Cathy dedicated three decades of her life to Nu-Motor/Flogistix. Her infectious warmth and genuine concern for others touched the lives of colleagues and friends alike. Beyond her professional endeavors, Cathy was a force to be reckoned with on the bowling alley, showcasing skill and finesse with every roll of the ball.
Christmas held a special place in Cathy's heart, where she transformed her home into a winter wonderland of joy and festivity. From meticulously decorating her Christmas village to baking batches of cookies with love, Cathy's spirit shone brightest during the holiday season. Birthdays were celebrated with equal fervor, although she shied away from the spotlight of her own birthday, preferring to shower others with love and attention.
In the words of those who knew her best, "Uff da"... we lost a good one.
Cathy is preceded in death by her parents, Loraine and Berneil Anderson (Young), and several cherished relatives who welcomed her with open arms into the heavens. She leaves behind her adoring spouse, Ralf Abbenhaus; her devoted children, LaRae (David) McKee, Dionne Krigbaum, Jennifer Abbenhaus, and Michael (Julie) Abbenhaus; along with her precious grandchildren Vivian and Logan Abbenhaus, and a host of cousins and loved ones.
