Chelsea Peterson, 40, formerly of Gillette, passed away peacefully at her home in Lansing, Michigan, on Sept. 25, 2024, following a long illness. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Chelsea was born on February 23, 1984, in Price, Utah, to Kenneth and Kelly Peterson. The family moved to Gillette when she was 7 years old. She graduated from Campbell County High School in 2002 and then attended Michigan State University on a full-ride academic scholarship, graduating in 2007 with two Bachelor’s degrees in Criminal Justice and Anthropology. She worked as a police officer in Gila River, Arizona, prior to completing law school in Phoenix. Chelsea started her own law firm where she enjoyed helping her clients with criminal defense cases.
Chelsea never met an animal she didn’t love, adopting many animals in need over the years. She was especially fond of her beloved chihuahuas. She was proud of her time spent in the Arizona National Guard. She had a great talent for crocheting, knitting and crafts, and it was always fun to be the recipient of one of her handmade creations. She was an excellent chef and enjoyed treating family and friends to her latest culinary creations. She had a wandering spirit and was always up for an adventure when traveling with Angel, her fiancée. She was so happy to find him to share her life with. She loved fashion and her sparkly jewelry collection was second to none. Her quirky sense of humor could always bring a smile to your face with her hilarious observations. She was a bright light in the lives of her family and friends.
Chelsea is survived by her parents, Ken and Kelly Peterson of Gillette; sister Amity Peterson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; brother Zac Peterson and niece AnnaLee of Waldorf, Maryland; and fiancée Angel Young of Lansing, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Clifford and Ortel Peterson and Lee and Kathleen Wareham. Condolences may be sent in care of Gillette Memorial Chapel 210 West 5th Street, Gillette, WY 82716.
