Cindy Ann Myers (Shevling) passed away September 6, 2017 surrounded by family, at home, after a long illness. Cindy was born February 12, 1962 in of Belle Fourche, SD. Cindy was the youngest of 4 children to Jim and Janet Shevling and grew up in a loving household filled with Faith, Family and Friends. Cindy loved life and left an enormous impact on everyone she met. Many friends and family surrounded Cindy in the days prior to her passing, providing support and encouragement. This time was filled sharing fond and funny stories of Cindy’s time on this Earth with her upbeat attitude, along with her silly sense of humor. Cindy was an active member of St. Matthews Catholic Church and that faith was present in her actions and words. Cindy met her husband Duane in 1982 when traveling with a friend to Buffalo, WY. It was love at first sight. They were married in December of 1983 and from there grew their family with 3 children; Beth, Abie, and Jake. Cindy and Duane’s marriage set an amazing example of what a marriage should consist of: faith, love, family, and friends. Cindy went back to school and received an education degree after the children started school. Cindy taught Preschool – 2nd grade at Hillcrest Elementary for 23 years and touched the lives of countless kids, helping them prepare for the future. One of Cindy’s greatest joys in life, was loving her children and grandchildren. She would always brag to anyone who would listen, how great her grandkids were. They would always put a smile on her face. Cindy loved crafts with quilting at the top of the list. She found joy in making quilts for all the kids and grandkids plus many others. It was hard to see Cindy leave, but seeing her keep the focus on Jesus and her positive attitude through the end was inspirational. Cindy is at peace now with her maker, leaving a hole in the hearts of those who loved her. Cindy left behind her loving husband of 33 years, Duane, three children: Beth (Dusty) Lewis - Thermopolis, Abie (Luke) Worthington - Gillette, and Jake (Megan) Myers – Sidney NE, parents Jim and Janet Shevling – Spearfish SD, sisters: Wanda (Tim) Fox – Labrador City New Finland, Debi (Scott) Stearns - Gillette, and brother Bob (Shelli) Shevling – Gillette. The family requests that memorials be made in Cindy’s name to John Paul II Catholic School or Close to Home Hospice.
