Funeral services for Donna Bennett, 86, of Gillette, WY will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Family Life Church with Pastor Marty Crump officiating; interment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Family Life Church, prior to services. Donna went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, July 23, 2022.
Donna was born the fifth child of nine on January 21, 1936 in Oshkosh, NE to Elsie and Marion (Dutch) Shaw. She was raised and educated in Oshkosh and Broadwater, NE.
She married George M. Bennett on February 15, 1954 in Bridgeport, NE. They made their first home in Rapid City, SD as George served in the USAF; while there welcomed their first child, CeCelia born September 11, 1955. After her husband’s discharge the family moved around to various places, on September 8, 1956 Bryce joined the family; followed by Lurean (Rene) on October 17, 1962 completing their family of five. In 1963, the family finally settled in Gillette, WY. After years of dedication to her family and her home, Donna took a job with Mountain Bell where she worked for 17 years before retiring. It wasn’t long after retirement that she decided she was too young and went back to work at the Senior Center. A few years later she decided it was time to enjoy her grandchildren. Some of her favorite memories were made at their Keyhole property, fishing, camping, and spending time with family and friends.
In the past few years Donna’s health caused her to slow down and spend more time at home, where she got to host all her family’s holidays and celebrations. Nothing brought her more joy than everyone gathering around her table for laughter and good food.
Donna will be truly missed by her children, CeCelia (Greg); Rene (Melissa) of Gillette, WY; Bryce (Bibian) of Kingman, AZ; grandchildren, Dusty (Alissa) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Serena, Nicole, Jennifer, Jacqueline of Gillette, WY; Samantha of Pismo Beach, CA; great-grandchildren, Antwonette, Brennon, Aurora, and Luna; sisters, Dorothy and Helen both of Nebraska, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents, three sisters and three brothers.
