Douglas Robert Van Kerrebrook

A gathering of friends & relatives will be held at the Eagles Lodge #2711 in Gillette from 4-10 PM on Sunday, February 11 th,  2018.  Military Honors will follow on Monday, February 12th at 12PM in the Mount Pisgah Cemetery Gardens.  We invite all to attend in honor of Douglas.  Douglas R. Van Kerrebrook was born on September 29th, 1954, in Hot Springs, SD, to Robert A. Van Kerrebrook and Clara E. Arthur.  After graduating from Gordon High School in Gordon, Nebraska, Doug enlisted in the U.S. Navy, providing 2 years of dedicated service.  He attended 2 years of college in Rapid City, South Dakota, graduating with an Associate’s Degree in Food Service and Hospitality Management, where he also met his future wife Danita R. Zinner.  They were married on Dec. 29th, 1977 in Glasgow, Montana.  The couple moved to Gillette in 1980, where they started their family of 3 children, Brittany L. Van Kerrebrook, Robert C. Van Kerrebrook (Mark La Vallie, Jr.), and Brandi L. Billat (Patrick).  Doug’s main career focus was in Hospitality/Food Service Management, opening the Hacienda Restaurant in Gordon, NE, Casa Del Rey in Gillette, WY, The Goings Restaurant in Gillette, WY and Food Service Director at N.E.W. B.O.C.E.S. School, along with many others.  He cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren.  Doug’s hobbies included, playing guitar, harmonica, piano, listening to music, traveling/outdoors, handyman projects, and most of all, poetic inspiration in everything he wrote.  He was a member of the Moose and Eagle’s Lodges in Gillette.  Doug is survived by his ex-wife, 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and 1 expectant great-grandchild due September 6, 2018, 3 sisters, 1 brother, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, mother and father, Robert and Clara Van Kerrebrook, and sister, Joann Nelson.  He will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him (best known as RINGO MAVERICK).   Memorials & condolences may also be sent to Gillette Memorial Chapel 210 W.
