Elva Lee Kauffman a beloved member of the community, has sadly passed away at her home surrounded by her family in Gillette, Wyoming on July 22, 2023. She was born on February 20, 1939, in Powell, Wyoming to Bain and Elenora (Heimer) Robbins. Elva was a remarkable woman who touched many hearts through her passion of helping people. Elva’s career path led her to Campbell County Detention where she dedicated herself to cooking for the inmates. Her culinary skills and compassionate nature brought warmth to those within the center. Elva’s commitment to serving others extended beyond her professional life as she worked tirelessly as a cook at the local soup kitchen, ensuring that those in need were nourished with love. Elva’s education played an essential role in shaping her character. She graduated from high school and went on to attend college, making her family proud of her accomplishments. The knowledge she acquired served as a foundation for her lifelong passion of learning. Known for her vibrant personality, Elva had an unwavering love of purple. It was a reflection of her exuberant sprit and zest for life. Whether it be donning purple attire or incorporating the hue into her surroundings, Elva’s fondness for purple was an integral part of her identity. Family and friends were at the heart of Elva’s world. She shared a beautiful journey with her late husband, Jake Kauffman and together they raised their children with love and care. Tanna Reed and Amber Markley were blessed to have Elva as a devoted mother, while Leahmae Haynes, Althea Haynes and Jason Kauffman continue to cherish their memories of a strong and nurturing presence. Elva’s love extended even further to include the next generation as she doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their immense joy brought immeasurable happiness into Elva’s life, and she nurtured their growth with affection and guidance. Elva found solace, companionship, and strength in her relationships. She shared a deep bond with her brothers: Gary Robbins, Marty Robbins and John Robbins, who provided her unwavering support throughout her life’s journey. Those bonds of family forged an unbreakable foundation of love and camaraderie. In her leisure time, Elva found joy in antiquing, an interest that allowed her to delve into the stories of days gone by. Her culinary skills were also evident outside of the walls of the detention center as she delighted in cooking for family reunions and get togethers. Family was important to her. Elva’s love of the Bible was show with her dedication to the First Presbyterian Church, where she became an invaluable member of the congregation. Her devotion to faith filled her life with hope compassion, and a sense of purpose. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023, starting at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church Gillette located at 511 Carey Ave, Gillette Wyoming 82716. Friends and loved ones are invited to come to celebrate Elva Lee Kauffman’s remarkable life during this solemn event. In her honor, please wear something purple. Elva is survived by her children, son Jason Kauffman of Gillette Wyoming; daughters: Leahmae Haynes of Douglas, Wyoming, Althea (Blake) Haynes of Laurel, Montana. Grandkids Gary Kelley, Josh Plato, Jedudiah Reed, Levi Reed, Kira Lewis, Christopher Haynes, Crystal Lake, Loretta Christianson, Samantha Ogle, Weslee Haynes, Jeremy and Justin Majors, Zaphrey and Zanesha Hein and many great grandkids who all loved her dearly. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Elva Lee Kauffman’s memory to the local soup kitchen where she dedicated so much time serving those less fortunate.
