Flora Jean Chastaine

Flora “Jean” Chastaine, 81, of Gillette, Wyoming, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on November 5, 2023.

Jean was born on March 29, 1942 to Andy and Ruby Burrough in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Jean lost her parents at a young age which led her to being raised by her Aunt Lorena.

Jean married her first husband, Donald Griffin, in 1958. The two of them had 2 children. Donald’s work led them to move to Montana and eventually leading them to their home in Wyoming. They later divorced in 1982. Jean later married John Chastaine, together they called Gillette their home. 

Jean had a loving and caring heart, which led her into her career of nursing. She spent most of her nursing career serving the elderly in long term care facilities. Those who knew Jean, will always remember her love for Toby Keith and country music.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her son, Leonard Griffin.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Gerry) Hallcroft, her grandchildren, Jeanne Dee, Devin, Amanda, Cody, Cheyenne, Lauren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

A memorial will be held in Oklahoma on a later date.
