Frances E. Saby

Frances E. “Tuddy” Saby, age 91, passed away October 27, 2017 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital. Frances was born February 13, 1926 to Albert J. Dochow and Frances Ester (Suhr) Dochow in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was one of twelve children and spent her childhood working and playing on the family’s bustling dairy farm near Mora, Minnesota. She loved to tell stories of growing up on the farm. As she recounted in later years “We were very poor while growing up, we just didn’t know it.” On March 2, 1946 she married Tomey Helmer Saby and moved to Poplar, Montana where they lived for 44 years. Frances worked for many years as a cook at Poplar High School and at the hospital. Frances and Tom raised three children during their time in Poplar. In 1990 Frances and Tom moved to Cow Creek Road, north of Rozet, Wyoming where they lived the remainder of their lives surrounded by family and grandchildren. She will be missed by her family and friends. Frances was very active until the time of her death, spending her days reading books, doing yard work, and helping with the cooking for ranch crews. She especially enjoyed being around her grandchildren and the occasional trip to Deadwood with her daughter Mary. Frances is survived by three children, Patti (Steven) Dallin of Mora, Minnesota, Tommy Saby of Mora, Minnesota, and Mary (Dave) Shippy of Rozet, Wyoming, her sisters Mary Jane “Susie” Saby and Florence Wurzl, both of Mora, Minnesota, plus seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eight brothers, and one sister. No services are planned.
