George Rolland Sleeth, 85, passed away at his home on August 6, 2024. He was born March 26, 1939 in Baker, MT to Ralph Everett and Edna (Schrader) Sleeth. George along with his six siblings were raised on a farm south of Baker until they were of school age, at which time the family moved into town where his father hauled cattle and later purchased the Sleeth Bar; this is where George would spend most of his time after school, helping his father and learning the value of hard work. George met the love of his life, Beatrice “Bea” Y Strehlow in high school. He enlisted in the US Navy in September 1956 and was honorably discharged in August, 1962. George and Bea were married July 9, 1958. After George’s discharge from the Navy they resided in several locations in Montana before finding their forever home in Gillette; where they raised their four children. He worked for numerous companies in the oilfield industry, Including L&H Welding and Machine until he branched out on his own establishing George’s Rig Service in 1967. He successfully operated his business for over 50 years, through the booms and busts. Wanting to slow down, he did consulting work for various oilfield companies in Wyoming, until he retired to enjoy his wife and family. George loved to tinker on automobiles, old jalopies, basically anything with an engine, bringing them back to life. He was a very skilled mechanic. George and Bea’s love and devotion for each other was obvious as his passing came just five months to the day of her passing, she passed in his birth month and he in hers. George’s many roles in life included being a son, brother, cousin, father, friend and so much more to so many. Ultimately his grandest title was Grandpa and Great-Grandpa and recently Great-Great-Grandpa. He leaves behind his sisters, Bernice Rolfson and Cleo Lee; his children, Robert G “Bob” Sleeth, Barbera J “Barb” Hammond (Bryan), and Cynthia R “Cindy” Lesko (Christopher); grandchildren, Miranda Brandt (Adam), Chan Kern, Madeline “Maddy” Lesko (Lucas “Luke” Wallace), Katie Lesko; great-grandchildren, Austin Brandt (Allison), Lily Brandt, Alexis Krivanec, Claire Kern and Iralyn Lesko-Wallace; great-great-granddaughter Darbee Brandt. He was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice “Bea” Sleeth, son Paul R Sleeth, brothers Donald Sleeth, Bill Sleeth and Theodore Sleeth and sister Claudia McLaughlin.
