Inez Arline Hauber

Inez Arline Hauber went to be with the Lord and her cowboy, Walter, on June 13, 2024. She was born on August 5, 1933, in Hulett, WY, to Edward and Inez (Stockton) Fowlkes. She was born at home in a one-bedroom cabin, weighing less than 3 lbs. Her father wrapped her up and put her in the oven of a wood burning cook stove to keep her warm. She was raised with three brothers, Don, Bob, and Melvin. She was raised in a shack with three little rooms with no electricity or running water. She attended school at Moore Hill School first grade through 8th grade. She was a cheerleader all three years of high school in Hulett, WY. She attended college at Black Hills Teachers College, which is now Black Hills State University, in Spearfish, SD. Her first teaching job was in September 1950 at a small county schoolhouse, she was only 16 at the time. While boarding at the Hauber ranch she met a tall handsome cowboy, Walter. While dating, he enlisted into the Marine Corps, which took him to California and Korea. While home on leave from boot camp they were married on February 28th, 1952. While he was in Korea, they lost their first child, gender unknown. After being discharged from the Marines, the couple moved back to WY. Richard was born in 1955, Robert in 1957, and Krista in 1966. In 1960 they bought a ranch in Weston. Here they made their life working the ranch, managing oil wells, and delivering mail. Arline is survived by her brother, Melvin Fowlkes of, ID, children, Richard (Sandy) Hauber, Robert (Carolyn) Hauber, and Krista (Mike) Bundy; grandchildren, Alison (Dustin) Kalpin, Hope (Whitney) Lyon, Ashley Hauber, Kimberly (Josh) Romo, Derek (Bre) Hauber, and Brad Bundy; and great-grandchildren, Sydalee Brown, Adelina Lotter, Josiah and Olivia Lyon, Jasmyn and Quinn Kalpin, Brandon and Alison Muhlbauer, Marcus Hauber, and Rowen Romo.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life for 67 years, Walter, her parents, her brothers, Don and Bob, and a grandson, Shaun. Memorial service and reception on Thursday, June 20 at 1:00 pm in the Primrose Assembly Hall in Gillette, WY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Hulett Museum and Library PO Box 103, Hulett, WY 82720. Condolences may also be expressed at www.gillettememorialchapel.com
