James (Richard) Adams, 79, passed away at his home in Gillette, WY of natural causes on Wednesday morning November 29, 2017. He will be cremated and taken to his birth place (Fruit/Palisade, CO) in the spring for a private burial. Richard was survived by his soul mate (JoAnne), his daughter, Cindi Rueschhoff (John) of Gillette WY, his two granddaughters (Cassidy and Cadie) and son (Kevin) of Grand Junction, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, his two siblings, nephew and his favorite dogs, Blackie and Dan. Richard was born in Fruita, Co on July 18, 1938. He was the third and youngest child born to Joseph and Linnie Adams. They soon moved to Palisade, CO where he graduated from high school in 1957. Richard served his country in the Air Force and later continued his civil service at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, CA. On a warm Labor Day weekend, he was set up on a blind date with the soon to be love of his life. On December 15th, they would have celebrated 36 years together. Richard had one son from a previous marriage and a daughter that came with his bride. He enjoyed the outdoors so much that when he retired from McClellan Air Force Base in 1993, Richard and JoAnne moved to Buffalo, WY. He was able to go fishing, camping and hunting when he wanted to and especially enjoyed the wildlife in his own backyard. When his granddaughters arrived, he did not hesitate in moving to Gillette, WY. He loved his family and wanted to be remembered not only as a good husband, great father but also an amazing granddad. His stories, his calm demeanor and his ability to hold a conversation with anyone that would listen was his legacy. He will surely be missed by all.
