Funeral services for James Brandon "JB" Kelley, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2009 at the Family Life Church with Pastor Marty Crump officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. PisgahCemetery with an honor guard provided by the Campbell County Sheriff's Office. A gathering of family and friends will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2009 at the Gillette Memorial Chapel. JB, age 33, of Gillette, Wyoming, passed away August 26, 2009 at his home in Gillette, Wyoming of unknown causes. JB was born May 25, 1976 in Laverne, OK the son of Harold and Lyn (Lake) Kelley. JB was the sunshine of his Grandad Lake’s eye from the very beginning. JB lived in Gillette, WY from age 6 months to present attending Rawhide, and Wagon Wheel Elementary, Sage Valley Junior High and graduating from Campbell County High School in 1994. JB then attended the University of Wyoming from August 1994 to December 1998 where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. Since JB was a youngster he lived an active life, wrestling with K-G Kids, and playing Little League Baseball. While attending high school he worked at McDonald's, Little Caeser's, and Hardee's. On summer breaks from college he was employed by Cordero RoJo. Prior to his career in law enforcement JB was employed at the Yes House and Volunteers of America. JB was a member of the Campbell County Corrections Board from 2000-2008. He began working at the Campbell County Sheriffs Department Detention Center in 2001 and then moved to Patrol in 2005. He believed in and loved his work as a Deputy, serving and protecting the public. While working at the Sheriff's Department he was a member of the Special Response Unit and the Drug Recognition Expert Teams. JB received multiple awards including the Governor's DUI Award and annually received recognition for his physical fitness. JB met his wife Lydia (Bacon) Kelley on her 16th birthday, December 13, 1995. There was a strong connection from the very beginning. They were married December 13, 1999 and have shared many wonderful memories since. JB was a dedicated husband and father who worked hard to provide a warm, comfortable home for his family. JB valued and loved quality time with his family and friends and he lived life to its fullest. He had a passion for the outdoors where he spent time hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, rafting, backpacking, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and participating in shooting sports. JB never missed an opportunity to ride his Harley with loved ones or just sit back and relax with family and friends. JB was a natural teacher who shared his knowledge with anyone who was interested in learning. JB was known for being meticulous to details. He is survived by his wife Lydia of Gillette, WY; daughter, Audrianna "Dee" Glasscock of Gillette, WY; father, Harold Kelley, Rawlins, WY; mother, Lyn Gallegos, Grahman, TX; sister, Windy Kelley, Walden, CO; maternal grandmother, Margaret Lake, Enid, OK; paternal grandparents, Pete & Marjorie Kelley; paternal uncles Royce (Annette), George (Cindy), and Gary (Kay) Kelley; maternal aunts, Judy (Dave) O'Neal and Sheila (Andy) Slinkard; as well as many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Walt Lake and his dog Buddy. A memorial has been established in his name to benefit the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
