Funeral service for Jimmy Anderson will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at New Life Church; interment to follow at Mount Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 4:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Walker Funeral Home. Jimmy Anderson age 74 died Thursday, November 2, 2017 at his home in Gillette, WY of heart related issues. Jimmy Dale Anderson was born in Deadwood, SD on December 1, 1942 to Marvin and Mary (Mickelson) Anderson. His parents lived in Trojan, SD at the time. When he was six months old his parents moved to a farm near Herford, SD. He attended grade school at the Lodge School near Herford. They moved to a place south of Whitewood, SD in December 1958. He graduated from Sturgis High School in Sturgis, SD in 1960. He entered the US Navy, June 9, 1960, serving on the west coast and in the Orient on the USS Duncan. He was honorably discharged, October 4, 1963. He settled in Gillette, WY in 1964 and went to work for National Tank Co. He worked for various drilling companies and service companies all his life in the oilfield and methane gas, including Apollo Drilling Co., Dunbar Well Service, and Kissack and Reynolds Oilfield service. He retired from Wrangler Construction in September 2008. He married Della Norfolk on February 4, 1967 in Gillette, WY. They divorced in May 1988. He enjoyed reading, writing and reciting poetry, country music concerts, hanging around the coffee shops and shooting the bull with his friends, reading and traveling. He had traveled to fifty states, eight countries, two crown colonies, and the District of Columbia. He was 33 year member of Alcoholics Anonymous in Gillette. He was a 30 year member of New Life Wesleyan Church in Gillette. He is survived by his special friend Betty Benedick and her family, son Dean Norfolk, daughter, Jolene Leonard, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was very close to his cousin, Rose Marie Wise. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and two sisters; Dorothy Ogarrd of Belle Fourche, SD and Sally Wiechon of Scott City, KS.
