Joe M. Erdoiza

Funeral service for Joe Erdoiza will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Gillette Memorial Chapel; interment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 24, 2022 at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Jose “Joe” Erdoiza age 75 of Gillette, WY passed away Monday, October 10, 2022 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet, IL from injuries from a fall. Joe, known to everyone as Big Joe, was born March 4, 1947 in Bilbao, Spain to Julian and Maria Erdoiza. At the age of 17 he came to America with his family settling in Boise, ID. He found a career with Boilermakers in the early 70's, starting in Local 182 Salt Lake City, UT and soon after transferred to Local 101 in Denver CO.   He helped build the first water tower in Gillette and helped with the building of Wyodak; just a few of his projects that he contributed to finishing his career in 2014 with more than 70,000 hours of service. He was hardworking; when he did take time for himself, he enjoyed hunting and trapshooting. Joe was always willing to lend a hand to those who needed help. He will be remembered as an excellent welder; one of the best. Joe got by with a little help from his friends including Ken Fosen and Gary Scott and his fellow Boiler Makers.
