John D. “JD” McGuire, 86, peacefully departed this life at his home in Gillette on Friday, March 9, 2018. John was born Oct. 26, 1931, in Gillette to the late Stuart A. and Nova E. (Keck) McGuire. In his formative years, he lived in New Mexico, southern California and Wyoming. He attended high school in Campbell County, then enlisted in the Army. On June 26, 1953, he married JoAnne Morgan in Gillette. To this union, seven children were born. In 1959, he professed his faith in Jesus Christ. JD and JoAnne privately opened up their hearts and home to many in need. Publicly, he pastored the Assembly of God churches in Whitebird, Idaho, from 1962-1965 and after retiring from the U.S. Postal Service ministered in Upton. His passion was in teaching Jewish customs and festivals. John was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnne; brothers, Robert and James (Jerry); sisters, Nova (Genie) McCarty, Willie Jo McGuire and Melva Lea (LeeAnn) Scott; and granddaughters, Eve Angelina Simcheck and Kimberly Kucera. Survivors include his children, Linda, Debra (Jeff) Kucera, Stuart, Tracy, John (Terry), Christine (Emmett) Middaugh and Julie; and sisters, Lenna Lou Boyens and Retha Mae McGuire. He also will be lovingly remembered by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family and friends. Arrangements are by Gillette Memorial Chapel with interment at Mount Pisgah Cemetery.
