John B. Wold, 67, of Gillette Wyoming passed away at The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center in Gillette on Thursday, July 19, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.
John Bailey Wold was born January 17, 1951 to Harlan James and May Dell (Bailey) Wold at Huron, South Dakota. He graduated from Huron High School in 1969. He then joined the US Navy and served for four years. He worked in the mining and construction industries and owned a rental property business.
John was a friendly, funny guy; a real character in the best sense of the word. He had a generous and giving heart and would do anything for someone in need. Even if you weren’t in need, he was always giving you something. He was a loving son, father, brother and friend to many. It has been said that he never met a stranger that he didn’t befriend, and he continued that legacy into his final days spent at The Legacy. Even when he could no longer speak, he would give staff that “wink” that only John could do.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his children, Sam (Lora) Wold of Lavon, TX and Sarah (Cody) Kittleman of West Friendship, MD; and his siblings, Marian (David) Martin of Bloomington, MN, Steven (LaVonne) Wold of Lead, SD, Beth (Larry) Picek and James “Jim” (Sherry) Wold both of Huron, SD.
Memorials may be directed to the Campbell County Senior Center or the local Disabled American Veterans (DAV) of Gillette. Memorials and condolences may be sent in care of Walker Funeral Home, 410 Medical Arts Court, Gillette, WY 82716. Condolences may also be expressed at www.walkerfuneralgillette.com
