Karen Rae Murphy

Mass of Christian Burial for Karen Murphy will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 17, 2023 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, with Father Bryce Lungren officiating; inurnment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.  Karen Rae Murphy, 72, of Gillette, WY passed away April 4, 2023 at The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center. Karen was born on April 12, 1950 in Hastings, NE to Ellen Mae (Follmer) and William Richard Friend. Karen grew up in Bellvue, NE where she graduated from Bellvue High School in 1968. From there Karen put herself through Cosmetology School. She moved to Gillette in 1977; where she met and married the love of her life Don Murphy. Karen is survived by her loving nephew, Darrell Huskinson, siblings, Charles Friend, Wilma Mathis, David Friend and Larry Friend. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ellen Friend, siblings, Richard, Marge Brockman, Kay Hoelting, Sally Schofield, and George; husband, Don and Star her special cat.
