Lila Sharon Beebower

August 9, 1939 — September 26, 2024

Gillette

It is with great sadness that the family of Lila Beebower, (Granny), announce her passing.

If you think that name sounds familiar, you’re right. Lila, known to her family as Granny and known to the people of Gillette as that sweet little lady that works at Don’s, joined her son and daughter, parents and siblings in heaven on September 26th, 2024.

Lila lived her life for her family. We are reminded of this as we sort through her home. We found hidden presents for the great-grand babies, school drawings from her children and grandchildren, all packed safely and neatly away as though they were as precious as the Hope diamond. And to her, they were.

She lived her life on her own terms and there was no talking her out of it. She worked until age 83, but recently said she was thinking of going back to work. Watching her outside this spring, painting fences and fixing decks, we truly believed she could return to work! She spent her days doing home repairs and watching her great grandchildren. Those babies were her heart and soul. Her famous phrase, “Friends are forever you know”, was shared through the decades with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She also had a dangerous side. Her grandsons would come to visit every summer, and together with her local grandsons they would sneak out of the house at midnight, creep down the street unseen, and touch a Sheriff’s patrol car that lives 4 houses down. They would race back to the house before being caught and surely sent to prison!

She showed her love through her cooking. She was famous amongst the family for her steak fingers, potato salad, chicken chimichangas and no bake cookies! She could turn a can of green beans and a sack of potatoes into a 7-course gourmet meal.

As said before, her life revolved around her family. Each one of us owned a piece of her heart, and when she passed, each one of us lost a piece of our hearts. Granny had 6 children, 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren with one due in February. We would be remiss if we didn’t mention each and every one by name. To say she is “survived by” is an understatement. Without her, we are only doing just that-surviving.

24 hours of “A Christmas Story” on TBS, will be on every TV, and whirly birds will be flying through the air.

We love and miss you mom. Nothing will ever be the same.
