Lois “Ann” Erb, 82, of Gillette died Monday, Aug. 27, 2018, due to natural causes at home. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Grace Bible Church, 4000 E. Collins Rd., Gillette. She was born at home Dec. 11, 1935, in the sand hills of rural Northeast Colorado, near the town of Ft. Lupton. In 1949, her parents moved the family to Weston County, where they continued to ranch. In 1953, she graduated from Upton High School and then moved to Denver to attend the Denver Business College, where she completed their Advanced Office Services Program. She returned briefly to Upton and then moved to California with one of her older brothers, where she met Richard A. “Dick” Erb in October, 1954. They were married Aug. 14, 1955, in Lennox, California, and soon moved to Lancaster, California. During those years they became the parents of a son and daughter. During her adult life, she cared for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and worked in office administration. Her lifelong passion was studying the Bible and leading Bible studies. She is survived by two children, Rick and Deb; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, George Washington Dowdy and Marguerite Emeline Steel Dowdy; and all six of her siblings. The family requests that memorials be made in Mrs. Erb’s name to Close to Home Hospice or to a charity of your choice.
