Lori Ann Record

July 6, 1961 — January 18, 2025

Campbell County

Lori Ann Record, 63, of Gillette, Wyoming, passed away on January 18, 2025, after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by her loved ones at Campbell County Health. Lori was born on July 6, 1961, in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, to Joseph L. Zura and Lois E. Brafford. At the age of four, Lori moved to Albuquerque, NM, with her parents after spending her early years living with her mother at her grandparents’ ranch. Following her dad’s passing in 1976, they moved back to Rapid City, South Dakota, where she graduated from Central High School in Rapid City in 1979. She moved to Wyoming in 1981 where she met Robert Nelson. The two were married in 1986 and together they had four children. Robert and Lori later went their separate ways. Lori met and married Bruce Schelm in October 2000. Together they blended their families until Bruce’s passing in July 2003. Lori met the love of her life, Paul Record, in 2007. The two eloped in Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 25, 2008, surrounded by their seven children. If you knew Lori, you knew she loved all things Sturgis and Harley-Davidson. In 2010, Lori bought her first motorcycle, quickly discovering a love for the open road. She upgraded to a larger bike in 2013. In 2023, her final upgrade was to a Harley-Davidson tricycle, which allowed her to continue riding. In 2018, Lori was diagnosed with breast cancer, a challenge she faced with strength and determination. After months of treatment, she entered remission and advocated passionately for early detection in the hopes of encouraging others to prioritize their health. Lori dedicated 27 years to being an office manager until she retired on August 4, 2023. Paul followed Lori into retirement in December 2023. Together they took many trips to Mexico, one could go as far as to say that the beach was her happy place. As an avid reader, she always made sure she could read no matter where she was. She enjoyed personalizing a variety of items with her Cricut. Spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends was something Lori always cherished, whether they were camping, traveling, or simply enjoying each other’s company.

Lori is survived by her husband, Paul Record, her children and grandchildren, Kyle (Trinity) Nelson and their children Carson and Grayson, Cody (Karyssa) Nelson and their children Walker and Beckley, Rusty (Sadie) Record and their children Bailey and Beau, Jenna (Mike) Wiard and their children Collin and Kayden, and Shannon Nelson and her son Liam, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, her father-in-law, her mother-in-law, and many aunts and uncles.

A funeral service will be held on January 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Matthew’s Catholic Church in Gillette. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Heptner Cancer Center at Campbell County Health. Condolences may be sent in care of Gillette Memorial Chapel 210 West 5th Street, Gillette, WY 82716.
