Loyd was born in Manvel, Texas on August 14th, 1959, to Loyd Don Wofford Sr. and Ada Wofford. After living in Texas until the age of 12, JR moved to Wyoming where he graduated high school from Chyenne East in 1977. Starting in the pipe fitter’s union soon after high school with his father, JR traveled the country working on multiple industrial construction projects including nuclear power and coal fired power plants. He moved to the Gillette area in 1988 and began working in the coal mines. It was there that he would meet the love of his life, shooting pool, and spent the next 31 years of devoted marriage to her. He spent every free moment away from work fishing, hunting, bowling, camping, or simply being with his family. JR spent the last 2 years of his life providing help, knowledge, wisdom, laughs, and slightly tall tales to anyone and everyone. Even in pain, JR would always put the needs of others first before his own. Being a great grandfather, mentoring and teaching his grandchildren with his vast knowledge of life was his favorite pastime.
JR is preceded in death by his father, Loyd Don Wofford Sr., and mother-in-law, Phillis Filbeck. He is survived by his wife of 31 years Sandy Wofford; Mother, Ada Wofford; his brothers, David and Darrell; his sons, Loyd Don Wofford III, Kristopher Lee Wofford (Heather), TJ Wofford (Jessica), and Joshua Robert Wofford (Stephanie); and His 8 grandchildren, Quincy, Natalie, Zachary, Johnathan, Samuel, Benjamin, Holden, and Molly.
He was loved by many and missed by all.
