Maria Cherry

It is with great sadness that the family of Maria D Cherry, age 62, of Sulphur, Louisiana, died March 22, 2025, in Gillette, Wyoming. She passed peacefully, succumbing to her illness of COPD at the Campbell County Hospital.

Maria was born on August 30, 1962 in Sulphur, Louisiana. She moved to L.A. and spent much of her life there, before moving to Gillette, Wyoming in 1992. Maria played the tough role of a single mother…a force to be reckoned with, according to her son. Not only was she tough, but she was hilariously funny and witty. She should have had a degree in sarcasm. Maria worked as a waitress for the Flying J, for 25 years. She worked hard and spent her spare time with her family, which she loved very much. Maria also had a love of knitting. Some would say that she had so much yarn, they didn’t know what to do with it.

Maria was survived by her sister Linda, Son Aaron, Daughter Amber, 4 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

There will be no service held at this time. The family will be spreading her ashes in the Crazy Woman Canyon in the Big Horn Mountains this summer.

Maria lived her life by her own terms… and she died by her own terms. The world seems a little less bright without her in it. She will be missed and forever in our hearts.
