On March 15th, 2021, Marvelyn (Marvy) J. Salmon, age 72, of Gillette, WY received her angel wings at Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center in Gillette, WY. Marvy was born in Wessington Springs, SD on December 14th, 1948 to Arthur and Dorothy (Hickens) Maxwell. She graduated Wessington Springs High School and soon after, married Gary Lee Salmon of Huron, SD. A short time later they gave birth to their daughter Malisa. While in Huron she worked at Metz Bakery for several years then after to Lewis Drug where she found her passion for photography. In the year of 1983 Marvy and Gary moved to Gillette, Wy where they reside to this day. Marvy then discovered her passion for baking and decorating while working at grocery stores; Decker’s, Dons, Dans. She absolutely loved traveling on her motorcycle with the Bike Club (Roadrunners), riding horses, and doing crafts of many kinds, one of her favorite crafts was to make annual calendars for both the bike club and her beloved family. Throughout the years Marvy collected Elvis memorabilia, coke products, and trinkets of her favorite animal, the Bald Eagle. Marvy is survived by her husband of 53 years Gary Salmon of Gillette; daughter Malisa Salmon Redfield of Lovington, NM; brother Gary Maxwell of Sheridan, WY; sister Sandy (Mitch) Madrid of Grande Junction, CO; brothers-in-law Bob Salmon of Kimberly, UT; Gene and Ron Salmon of Gillette; Jim Salmon of Huron; Marsha Hanson of Forestburg, SD; stepbrothers Nels, Ron, Bob Peterson; granddaughters, Alesha Redfield of Lovington, NM; Andrea Redfield of Hobbs, NM; Abby (Colton) Owens of Lovington, NM; great-grandsons, Colby Owens and Harrison Whitaker and great-granddaughter, Clara Owens and another on the way. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Marvy joins other loved ones in eternal rest of her parents, Art and Dorothy Maxwell; parents in law, Duane and Loretta Peterson; brother, Monty Maxwell and his wife Donna Maxwell; sister, Sharon Pearson and brothers in law Roger Hanson and Steve Peterson. A visitation will be held at Gillette Memorial Chapel, 210 W. 5th St. Gillette, WY 82716 at 4pm to 7pm Thursday March 18, 2021 and Monday, March the 22, 2021 at Welter Funeral Home, 267 3rd St. SE, Huron, SD 57350 at 2pm to 3pm, burial will follow at RestLawn Memory Gardens 21453 SD-37, Huron, SD 57350.
