Mary Ellen Olsen

Funeral service for Mary E. Olsen will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 27, 2018 at Gillette Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ron Merritt officiating; interment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Mary Ellen Olsen age 87, of Gillette, WY passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Close to Home Hospice of natural causes. Mary Ellen (McGraw) Olsen was born on March 18, 1931 in Gillette, WY to Mable (Perkins) and Willard McGraw. She attended school in Campbell County and earned a teaching certificate in high school, which allowed her to teach first through eighth grade in Parkman, WY in 1948. Mary married Bobby C. Olsen on October 29, 1949.  The couple had three sons. Mary was a ranch wife and mother from that day on. She loved to build things. She was a very active member of Cornerstone Church of God; she was also an avid bible reader, and could quote scriptures from memory as she had read the bible front to back several times. Mary also enjoyed her trips out to eat with Toby at Dairy Queen. Mary is survived by her sons, Bobby (Vicki) Olsen and Toby Olsen; brothers, Bob (Leona) McGraw and Dan (Joan) McGraw; grandchildren, Chris (Kodi) Olsen; Andy (Britnee) Olsen; and Kelli (Chris) Zimmerman; great-grandchildren, Trase Olsen; Laynee Olsen; Zoey Zimmerman; Zara Zimmerman; Tyler McCabe; Taylor McCabe; and Tristan Penrose. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby C. Olsen; son, Douglas Olsen; parents, Willard and Mabel McGraw; brothers, Raymond McGraw and Frank McGraw; and sisters, Mildred Hedrick, Bonnie Hager and Rebecca Hutzell. The family request that memorials be made in Mary’s name to benefit Close to Home Hospice.
