Mary Nell Vest

Funeral service for Mary Vest will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 11, 2018 at Walker Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Thompson officiating; interment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Being everyday people please feel free to dress in everyday attire when attending her funeral.  Mary's favorite color was pink, so feel free, if you want, to wear pink to honor her.

Visitation will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday June 10, 2018 at Walker Funeral Home.

Mary N. Vest, 93, went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 03, 2018.  Mary was born in Mart, Texas August 23, 1924 to Mr. and Mrs. A.F. Richard.  She had 2 brothers (Alfred and Albert) and 2 sisters (Lillie and Lillian).  Lillian passed away at the age of 2.  Mary attended school and college in Texas, and taught at the Neely Ward School near Morton, Texas.

She later met and married Gerald Vest, the love of her life, on November 2, 1946 in Beulah, Texas.  Three children were added to this union Gerald "Jerry" Vest Jr., Derald Vest, and Teresa Vest (Warner).

The family lived in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico before moving to Gillette in 1968.  She spent her life raising her children and caring for others. She loved gardening, growing flowers, and working in the yard, but most of all Mary enjoyed sharing the love of Jesus with others.  She was a wonderful southern cook, and it brought her great joy to feed her family.

Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 73 years Gerald Vest Sr.; her children, Gerald "Jerry" (Betsy) and Teresa (Ray); her granddaughters, Angie Fite (Shawn), Brandi Mendell (Roger), Karla Eason (Joe), Melissa Kline (Thomas) and Jessica Baker; her 12 great-grandchildren, Brittani Aldridge (Dalton), Devin Fite (Torei), Seth Fite, Austin Mendell, Taylor Mendell, Maci Mendell, Caembrea Kline, Kaeley Kline, Karissa Kline, Karlee Kline, Kaedin Baker and MaKenzie  Baker; and her great-great-grandchildren, Braycen, Trapper, Scout Aldridge and Brecken Fite. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Derald; 2 sisters, Lillie and Lillian; and her 2 brothers, Alfred an Albert.
