Matthew James Hull, 45, of Gillette, WY, passed away on November 21, 2023.
Matthew was born on June 19, 1978 to James D. Hull and Elizabeth Ann Nickel in Scottsdale, AZ. After Matthew graduated high school in 1996, he enlisted in the United States Army. Matthew served under the 1st Battalion, 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Matthew earned a meritorious achievement as a Supply Sergeant and Armorer for the Headquarters Company, 27th Engineer Battalion (Combat) (Airborne). He was also qualified as an expert marksman and earned The Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in May of 2000 due to skeletal injuries from many parachute jumps. In 2004, Matthew met Leah Pauline Griffin and they married in 2005. Matthew and Leah went on to have 4 children together, Daelynn Emari, Greyson Riley, Jayden Koli, and Madelynn Rei. Matthew’s favorite activities included spending time with family, hiking, camping, and reading. Matthew had a deep love for Jesus and meditated on His word daily. His wife and kids loved him fiercely. Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents Dale Francis Nickel, Carole Rae Maucher Nickel, Wesley Newell Hull, Kathryn Lucille Bloomer, and Virgil Douglas Dunn. He is survived by his wife Leah Pauline Hull, his children Daelynn, Greyson, Jayden, and Madelynn, his parents Elizabeth Ann Johnson and James D. Hull, his siblings Michelle Hull, Brandon Johnson, Christian Johnson, Kyle Hull, and Brianne Simpson, and many in-laws and other family members who loved and cherished him. Services will be held at Journey Church Gillette on December 14, 2023 at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to help Leah support and care for her children.
