Matthew Joseph Johnson, born April 12, 1983 in Gillette, Wyoming departed this Earth for Heaven on May 11, 2020.
Matthew is survived by the love of his life and greatest blessing, his son, Jayden Bryan Johnson; his parents, Stanley Johnson and Lynda Johnson both of Gillette, WY; his grandfather Joseph Johnson of Mission, KS; his sister, Jaime Boardman; Jayden’s mother, Nicole Jacobs; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins. Matthew is preceded in death by his brother, Bryan Boardman, his maternal grandmother, Carole Rader and his paternal grandmother, Carol Johnson.
Matt had a love for all sports. He grew up on the ballfield, playing little league, Babe Ruth and Legion ball. He continued throughout his life to play city league sports. You could always find Matt swinging for the fences and guarding first base. Matt was also an AVID FAN of the KC Chiefs, KC Royals and Kansas University Men’s Basketball.
Matt loved being a Dad and spending time with Jayden. He left his mark on the of those who knew and loved him making many, many lifelong connections. He enjoyed being on the go and wherever the party was, you would find Matt. Matt loved spending time at the lake in the Summer. He had an ear for music, loved good food and spending time with friends and family.
There will be a private family only service for Matt on May 15th, to be followed by a Celebration of Life Party for all friends and family this Summer. To protect the health and safety of all, services will be limited to family only.
