Funeral service for Maxine Smith will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Susan Reichenberg officiating; interment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Maxine Smith age 91, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital of natural causes. Maxine Betty (Hilgenfeld) Smith was born on January 4, 1926 in McPherson, KS to Mayme C.F. (Postier) and Ruben Grant Hilgenfeld. She attended school in McPherson, KS and graduated from McPherson High School. Maxine married Kenneth James Smith on June 6, 1946. The couple raised four children; Sid, Marsha, Judy and Janice. The family moved to Gillette, WY in 1968. Maxine worked as a secretary for National Oilwell. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and was also the church secretary. Maxine enjoyed playing Bridge, bus rides to Deadwood, SD, and spending time at the cabin with her friend Dorothy. Maxine also loved spending time with her family and her grand-dogs. She was also a member of The Gabby Gals. Maxine is survived by her son, Sid (Gracie) Smith of Gillette, WY; daughters, Marsha (Joel) Murphy of Roosevelt, UT, and Judy (Doug) Stewart of Castle Rock, CO; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth and daughter, Janice Camino.
