Melaine Kay Berg,72, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, July 28, 2024, following a brief illness. Melaine and her twin brother Maynard were born July 20, 1952, to Walter and Viola Berg in Reliance, South Dakota. She spent her childhood in Reliance and graduated from Reliance High School in 1970. After high school, Melaine attended Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, SD, and earned her BS in nursing. Following her graduation from DWU, she went to work for the hospital in Chamberlain, SD. Melaine gave birth to her daughter, Jaimee Raye, in 1978. Melaine and Jaimee moved to Washington state briefly before settling in Gillette, WY, for the remainder of her life.
Melaine married Eugene Salazar on August 2, 1986. Their son, Jase Eugene, was born in 1987. After her divorce from Eugene, she remained in Gillette to be close to her children and grandchildren. She worked for Campbell County Memorial Hospital for over 2 decades, then finished her nursing career with Sharon’s Home Health for one year. She retired from nursing but continued to work to keep herself busy.
After Melaine committed to full-time retirement, she developed an avid interest in politics. (Vote Trump 2024!) She also enjoyed the companionship of her pets over the years, Einstein and – more recently - Baby Trump. Melaine loved to read and watch fictional- and true-crime television, the Detroit Lions and General Hospital.
Melaine loved her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter Presley, and was so excited for the arrival of her second great-grandchild, due in December. Melaine is survived by her daughter, Jaimee (Jeremy) Hanson; son, Jase Salazar; grandchildren, Morgan (Joe), Kyler (Yvette), Halle, and Kylie; and great-granddaughter, Presley, all of Gillette, WY.
The family wishes to extend their thanks in advance for your kindness and consideration.
