Miguel "Toby" Montes

Miguel ”Toby” Montes passed away on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at his home.

Funeral services for Toby will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018 at First Assembly of God with the Rev. Dan Holden officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pisgah cemetery.

Visitation will take place from 4–7 p.m. Friday at the Walker Funeral Home

Toby was born on March 9, 1998, in Gillette to Laura E. Montes and Juan P. Montes. Toby resided in Gillette his whole life. He attended Campbell County High School.

Toby was most proud of his 2-month-old son, Kyrie. The day his son was born, Toby was bursting with pride and joy. Toby proposed to his fiancé, Terra, shortly after his son was born. Toby and Terra had made plans to make their home in Gillette.

Toby was known for his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirits. He was a jokester, always trying to make people smile. He was a family man. He loved his family dearly and would do anything for them.

He will be missed dearly by all of who came in contact with him, especially family and close friends.

Toby is survived by his parents, Laura and Juan Montes; two sisters, Iris (Daniel) Estrada, Evie Montes; one niece, Braelynn; nephew, Hakeem; three aunts, Sara (Jason) Jaramillo, Melisa (Dan) Brower and Emily (Baron) Mueller; one uncle; Jorge Jaramillo; and numerous cousins, all of Gillette; maternal grandparents; Hipolito Rangel and Isabel Moreno-Romero of Zacatecas, Mexico; paternal grandparents, Miguel and Maria Montes of Juarez, Mexico.

He is preceded in death by his grandma, Emily Stickney, and his baby cousin, Emmanuel Jaramillo.
