Funeral service form Mildred Parnell will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 11, 2017 at Gillette Memorial Chapel; interment to follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Mildred B. Parnell age 92 passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 at The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center in Gillette, WY. Mildred Parnell was born on July 11, 1925 in Gillette, WY to Ray and Josephine (Rodman) Moser. She was raised on the family farm south of Gillette. Mildred attended Campbell County schools and took normal training course and taught school at the age of 17. In 1943, she married Reginald Parnell. Within a few years Mildred and Reginald settled on their ranch in the Wildcat community. They raised three daughters on the ranch. Mildred was an accomplished seamstress and made all her young daughter’s clothes. She also owned and operated The Busy Bobbin and Fabric store in Gillette for several years. Mildred served on the District 2 School Board and was active in the CC Ladies Club and Farm Bureau. In 1977, they moved to Gillette and spent their winters in Arizona. She was quite artistic and loved to play cards. Mildred is survived by her daughters, Karen Nichols, Leitha (Don) Anderson, Mary Jo (Don) Joslyn; nine grandchildren, Nick (Michelle) Nichols, Clint Nichols, Stacy (Paul) Alley, Leslie (Brent) Denham, Duane (Sherry) Joslyn, Sarah (Chris) Underwood, Scott Joslyn, Cody Joslyn, and Michael Ann (Sven) Lunberg; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997, her parents, sister; Myrtle Lewis and brother; Bill Moser. The family request that memorials be made in Mildred’s name to benefit Close to Home Hospice or The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center.
