Myra Elizabeth “Betty” Tolar, 83 passed away on January 28, 2018 in Gillette WY where she resided with her Granddaughter Pauline (Owen) Cary. A Celebration of Life will be a Memorial Service held at 11:00 AM February 3, 2018 at The Arbuckle Lodge 1400 South Garner Lake Road Gillette, WY. Burial will be at a later date at The Biloxi National Cemetery in Gulfport MS. Interment will be beside her husband of 64 years, Jim Tolar. Betty Tolar was born in Morrisville, New Jersey to Joseph and Myra Strelec on August 25, 1934. She attended school in Boonton NJ. She married Jim Tolar on April 18, 1953 in Georgia. Betty was a lifelong Baptist. Betty enjoyed raising her family and spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren that fondly referred to her as Triple G. Betty was a member of The American Legion Auxiliary in Gillette WY and Gulfport MS and served as President for several years at both Legions. She was a member of the Democratic Party in Florida, Wyoming and Mississippi. She served on a panel appointed by The Governor of Wyoming to nominate judges throughout the state. She managed Gillette Self Storage and worked in several businesses she and her husband owned in both Florida and Wyoming. She volunteered at hospitals in many places where she and her family lived. She coordinated numerous Mardi Gras Celebrations in Gulfport MS at The American Legion. Betty loved to sing and dancing with Jim. She enjoyed reading, fishing, the beach, cooking and camping with family and friends in Florida and the mountains of Wyoming. She always enjoyed entertaining friends and family. She loved to travel. She and Jim lived in and visited many states during the life they shared. She was a long time resident of Gillette Wyoming, prior to retiring to Gulfport MS. She particularly enjoyed taking cruises and traveling to Turkey and Hawaii. Betty Tolar was preceded in death by her husband Jim Tolar; parents, Joseph and Myra Strelec; siblings Bill Anderson and Eleanor Maxwell and Nick Boromei; granddaughter, Charity Saathoff. Betty Tolar is survived by her children, Belinda Boromei, Joseph (Genetha) Tolar, Pamela (Dale) Saathoff Jerry (Susanna) Tolar, Charles (Marie) Tolar, 20 Grandchildren, 27 Great-Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren. Many dear brothers and sister-in-laws, many dearly loved nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and many friends.
