Neva Faye Oedekoven

Memorial Services for Neva Faye Oedekoven, 79 of Clearmont, Wyoming, formerly of Recluse, Wyoming will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 4, 2017 at New Life Church, 1000 Comanche Ave, Gillette, Wyoming with Chaplain Gordon Harper officiating. Neva was called Home to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Colorado after a long and courageous battle with heart and pulmonary disease.  She died due to complications stemming from a surgical procedure.  She was in the company of her children when she passed. Neva was born March 18, 1938 in Burns, Wyoming to Archie and Mary Belle Walling.  She attended grade school in Burns Wyoming and attended high school in Boulder, Montana and graduated High School in Buffalo, Wyoming while residing with her sister, Grace. Neva married Duane Oedekoven in 1959 and from this union came 3 children, Clifford, Jolene, and Pam.  She lived on the family ranch near Recluse, Wyoming with the exception of her “winter vacations” to Yuma, Arizona spent with her brother Bill and her close friends.  In April of this year, she moved to Clearmont, Wyoming to be near her daughter Jolene and her family. Neva touched many lives over the years driving school bus, cooking at the Recluse School, working the pari-mutual windows at Energy Downs Horse Racing and her many years of clerking at the Campbell County Fair.  She loved games of any kind and would pull many “overnighters” playing cards and dice.  She loved patriotic things and besides green it was all about the red, white and blue!!! Her passions were traveling, going out to eat, and socializing with her family and friends.  She never went anywhere unless she was well dressed and had her make-up on.  One of our favorite memories is her contagious laugh. She is lovingly remembered by her brother; Bill Walling of Helena, Montana, her sister; Grace Ward of Casper, Wyoming and her sister; Betty June Brown of Recluse, Wyoming, her son; Clifford Oedekoven and wife Sharyl of Recluse, Wyoming, daughter; Jolene Poppenga and her husband Ronnie of Clearmont, Wyoming, daughter; Pam Nelson and her husband Craig of Hermosa, South Dakota, grandchildren; Jason Oedekoven, Gillette, WY, Amanda Andreen husband David, Recluse, Wyoming, Misty Nuzum, husband Colt, Sundance, Wyoming, Lacey Olsen, husband Sam, Arvada, Wyoming, great-grandchildren; Christopher, Cadynce, Monica and Madison Oedekoven, Ian and Isaac Andreen, Wyatt Fiedor, Rylee and Teegan Olsen, and all of her nieces and nephews as well as close family friends. Mom, you are forever in our hearts. The family request that memorials be made in Neva’s name to benefit the Pleasant Hour Ladies Club of Recluse, Wyoming.
