Funeral services for Paul Brooks will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 8, 2024 at High Plains Community Church; Pastor Dan Morgan officiating; with viewing to begin at 10:00 a.m.. Interment with military honors at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Paul Phillip Brooks passed away on June 27, 2024 at Legacy Living & Rehabilitation Center in Gillette, Wyoming. He was born October 2, 1937 to Roy L. and Mary Floy Bohannan Brooks in Burbank, Oklahoma. He grew up in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Colorado Springs, Colorado. He joined the Air Force at 17 years old and served 20 years and 26 days. During his military service he was stationed in Colorado, Spain, Japan, California, Thailand, Germany, Arizona, Texas, Ohio, Oklahoma, and New York. He married Frances Wesson on August 29, 1959 in Florence, Colorado. They had four children: Jimmie (Claire)Brooks, Larry (Barb) Brooks, Danny Brooks, all of Gillette, Wyoming; Franette (Mark) Smith of Missouri City, Texas. He started his second career in coal mining in Gillette, Wyoming working at Cordero and Buckskin mines. He then went on to travel with Maps RV to help the need for construction and renovation of churches, Assembly of God colleges and universities. In his retirement years he had part time/ temporary jobs at Schneider Trucking, Whirlpool, school bus driver, and census taker. During this time, he took up woodworking and blessed many people with his bowls. He also loved hunting & fishing throughout his life. He served in the churches he attended as Treasurer, Board Member, and Sunday School Teacher. He is preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters. He leaves behind brother, John (Libby) Brooks; sister, Mary Brooks Bryant, both of Texas; wife, 4 children, 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank all the nurses and caregivers at Legacy Living & Rehabilitation Center and Campbell County Health Home Health and Hospice.
